The Houston Royals are a true "Select Team" organization. Only professionals coach the teams. All players tryout and are selected based on skills, attitude, and potential. We are looking for ballplayers in Houston with great parents that want to learn how to play and respect the game of baseball. We want "BALLPLAYERS", not just kids that play baseball. We pride ourselves in maximizing every Royals player's full potential through structured workouts from professional coaches. The Royals teams are led by Mark Quinn, former Rice University All American and 4 yr MLB Kansas City Royal player.
A former Major League outfielder who played for the Kansas City Royals. Quinn was drafted in the 11th round of the 1995 Amateur Draft after playing two seasons for the Rice University Owls. While at Rice he was selected to the All SWC, All American team, and was team MVP in 1995. On the 1995 team he was teammates with Lance Berkman and Jose Cruz, Jr. On September 14, 1999 Quinn became just the third player in MLB history to hit two home runs in his Major League debut. In 2000 Quinn was named Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year. In four seasons with the Royals in the Major Leagues, Quinn batted .282 with 45 home runs, 72 doubles, 167 RBI, in 293 games.
